Overnight EEG

What is an overnight EEG?

An overnight EEG (or long term video EEG) is an EEG study that is performed over night in our office. Instead of hospitalizing your child, you and your child will be invited to spend the night in one of our pediatric-friendly rooms in the Neurophysiology Lab.

What happens during an overnight EEG?

The procedure for application of the electrode wires is the same for an ambulatory EEG study. Your child will be constantly monitored by the video cameras in the room both during the time your child is awake and during sleep. An overnight EEG study can be ordered from 24-72 hours in duration.
